Almost missed it!!

I did miss Thanksgiving but Hallowe'en is almost here and there is time to make these.

Pumpkins!

Knit or fabric.

Let’s knit!  Mainly because I checked out the fabric ones and I honestly didn’t like any of them.

Your will need:  4 DPN 6.0mm needles and your knitting bag  (I didn't have 6mm needles so I used 5.5mm ones)

My yarn of choice was Patons Canadiana.

The colour is apricot and you will be using 2 strands.  This yarn is a medium weight #4 yarn.

Cast on 44 stitches, leave a long tail for closing the bottom when you have finished.  Divide these stitches over three needles.  (This way you won’t have a seam to close up when you are finished)

Knit three, purl one every round for 6”.  Turn the tv on with a great movie showing and you are done in no time!!

When you have the knitting completed, thread your sewing needle with the tail from the CAST ON edge and wend it through the stitches, gathering as you go.  Sew up the opening.
Using polyester stuffing fill the cavity until it feels "right".  It is hard to say how much but you want the stitching to show and you want it firm so it holds its shape.

YOU DO NOT cast off!!
Gather the stitches off the needles and pull to close the opening.  You want a little bit left open to insert your pumpkin stem.  After gathering the stitches and stuffing take needle and push it right through to the bottom of the pumpkin and secure the thread.

We had the perfect branch come off our birch tree, so I cut it to length and inserted it in the opening.  You can glue it in place if you wish, but I found mine just sat there!!

Here are the instructions for the pumpkin.

Come back in an hour.....about 10:00 am my time and see how I decorated my pumpkin.  Really fast knitting.

Rather sew?
This one is easy and you just might have the right fabric in your stash.
