It isn't always easy to post everything I get done and want to share with you. I'll take time here to add to the blog.
This time it is Christmas cards. Not the kind you buy in a store, homemade. We send very few cards. Our grands that live in Alberta and our two fabulous neighbours. One because she is a fabulous friend and I met her before we even moved in! The other lives across the road and he is our lawn fertilizer, our snow shoveller, just a great kind person.
Here we go. I had the cardstock picked out and I wanted to insert a cross stitch so it couldn't be large. The first one is a Danish heart.......they are everywhere in Denmark at Christmas. My very first "hjerte" I made, my fabulous father-in-law taught me. We sat at the table and cut out the paper and then he taught me how to weave it together. There was a lot of laughter and one of those memories that never fades. Now I cross stitch them and give them to the Dane I married.
with of course something written inside
Our first Christmas we spent Christmas Eve with Danish friends of Karl's and then Christmas day with my family. We have celebrated Christmas with both Danish and Canadian traditions ever since. A few Dansk kager and of course fruit cake because we both love that!
For my friend across the road, a simple beautiful tree lit up with a star on top and a touch of snow on the ground.
For our fabulous neighbour who loves to cut lawns, shovel snow, rake leaves, keep the sewer grate cleared off and even will wash the car for us
and then the verses. I wanted "Christmas" paper but I don't have any and why have a full pack of it when you can make your own. I did a screenshot of some fabric that isn't too fussy, plunked it into word, filled the page with it and ran it off.
I didn't want "text boxes" so I typed up what I wanted inside each card, in Word, and then ran it off on the paper.
Then I trimmed it to fit inside the card. This one looks rather messy but I'll get it fixed. I'll give it a press with my iron.
The cards are done. I'll deliver them next month, but it's one job behind me and I'm thankful for that.
Now I'll turn my mind off for awhile and when my new Aida cloth gets here I'm starting a cross stitch to make into a pillow for the chesterfield.
