and it's coming faster than we think!
Hallowe'en is so much different here in Ontario than where I grew up in Lachine, PQ. The night before we had "mat night" and my two friends, Laurie Ann and Janet and I would steal the mats off our own parents' front doors, ring the bell and run like crazy. Our parents knew and let us get away with it. We didn't dare do it to anyone else.
Of course, on the 31st, we donned our costumes, just things we dug out of closets and out we went with a bag and knocked on doors on two blocks. We wore masks (horror of horrors) and knocked on doors of people we didn't know. We did get candy but mostly it was apples.
This year because of the pandemic I don't know whether kids will be allowed to go out. I think it's a shame if they don't. They look forward to it and all the great junk food they will collect will not cause them any harm. You can check that out with the WHO.
I thought it might be fun to dig out the Hallowe'en fabric I had left over from last year

and make a couple of masks, and darn didn't I get just a wee bit more to make up.
These were the two fabrics, cut slightly smaller than the pattern called for as this was what I had.
I had trouble this time making the masks. No idea why because the first time I just sailed through the instructions. Some days you win, some you loose. They will do for one night of answering the doorI had just a little bit left so I made us a coaster each. We'll have our coffee at hand but when that door bell rings we will have to move before the kiddies get away on us.This is the pattern I used. It's a free download from the Fat Quarter Shop.
