Switching gears

I like handwork.  The long fall nights have started and I need something to pass the time while the tv is on.  I rarely watch, I just listen unless it is something really, really good.

I order my yarn from Mary Maxim and I like one that can be used for different projects.  Like slippers or cowls.  The both knit up so fast.  I searched on the internet for patterns because mine have disappeared.  I think mine got purged.

I like this cowl and it's a free download:

If you want to learn how to bind off loosely, this is a great little video

Then I figured, what the heck may as well search for a child's cowl.  I think they are safer around the neck than a scarf.  This has a bit of a pattern to it, but it's an easy one.

Slippers are fast and easy to knit.  I made a pair in a day and there are several patterns out there.  I tried this one:

but I didn't like the way the heel sat when it was sewn together.  Sooooo, I went over to Mary Maxim and downloaded their pattern.  There are several sizes for you to chose from.

I won't be bored with all this lovely yarn in my house.  I just need to find the right bag to store it in, so Buddy won't attack it.

Here's what I have done.  One little scarf for a child
and one large cowl for an adult.  I'm classifying this as large because it was a bit big on my head.  Of course, if you had a touque on underneath, it would be okay.
