It's awesome!!

I had never purchased this yarn before but I had a hat pattern I wanted to try and it called for chunky yarn.  This is beautiful to work with.  By the way, if I had been paying attention the solid colour was shown to go with this and it is purple, not apricot.  Duh!!
Within days of evening knitting, I had two hats.  The first one I found on the internet, the second one I made up in my mind.  And it worked out.
This hat is from Yarnspirations and it is the Winter Weather Set.  I didn't do the cowl but the hat!!!  I love it.  It's like a beret.

The cowl.  Oh boy, this cowl.  I tried this three/four times, yanked it out and decided this was it.  I do like this one and for the next one I'll write up the instructions.  It's a simple K2, P2 for about 10-11 inches and it is lovely and warm around your neck.

This second hat is based on a hat I found for men.  I used less stitches for the lady's hat.  I used 48 for this one but the next one will be 52.  You have to add in groups of 4.  Knit until you reach about 7 1/2" and then do a quick cast off.  I love these cast offs.  First row is knit 2 together, then knit a row, then k2tog, then kit one row and the very last row is K2tog.  Leave a long tail and fasten it off.

A beautiful big pom pom on the top and this hat is ready to go.
This hat was intended to go with the cowl but I've changed things up.
Watch for this one again because I have a thought in mind.

All my yarn for donations is purchased through
Mary Maxim in Paris.
Their service is excellent.
I mucked up my first order, I called them, they cancelled it and I replaced the order.
Everything was done perfectly.
Yeah, it's my go-to store.
The Knitter's Boutique in Burlington is for family.

Karl and I are making some changes.
There are homes in Hamilton Ontario for people that have very special abilities.
From now on, Karl will buy the yarn and I will knit it up.
Karl will buy the fabric and I will make -- well -- whatever.
There are over 200 people living in these homes ranging in age from
20-65 both men and women.
All the hats, and cowls will be made up and hopefully I can get enough done for everyone.
These will all be brand new, never before worn by anyone else.
I'm looking forward to this venture.
These folks are special and they deserve it.
Other charitable works we have done in the past will be stopped and those folks have all been notified this is the last year.
I just felt it was time.
