In the early part of May

we lost a little girl in our community.  She was on her way into her school to take part in the Spring Concert.  As she went across the end of a driveway into her school she was struck by an very large SUV driven by a 21 year old and she died at McMaster Children's Hospital.

The people of our City were devastated.  No words can express our sympathies to the family.  The link is to the broadcast by Al Sweeney of our local television station, CHCH- TV

A young Constable Ryan Anderson of Media Relations addressed the media.  We watched him and I cried for him.  Life is not easy for those that wear the police uniform.  Unless you walk a mile in their boots you have no idea what a shift can be like for them.

I finally found a post on Facebook by Jayne's Mom.  She wrote in her post and I quote:

"Nothing can ease the pain of her loss, but how we choose to move ahead can honour her life.  Please help to spread the love Jayne had in her heart to others.  Do something kind for someone and think of her."

After giving myself time to think about it, I knew what we would do.  I cannot erase the image of Constable Anderson from my mind.  I don't know him.  He is just a guy that puts on a uniform and serves his community with heart and with kindness.

It took me time to come up with something to give to Constable Anderson.  It took time to find out who he was, but our neighbours who have either worked for Halton Police or are now part of the force helped me out.
Our gift to him is the following.

Kindness matters.
