Cowls..........love them!!

Scarfs are wonderful.  I love them but they are more for style.  Now cowls, they are for warmth.  The wind won't howl down you neck, they stay in place and so much faster to knit up.

I'm knitting all my cowls up with this yarn.  It is a variegated yarn and from that you can make a chunky toque that is a solid/plain/what'ca want ta call it.

These are the instructions for ladies' cowls.

On an 8MM circular needle cast on 72 stitches.  Simplicity itself comes next.  K2 P2 for each and every row until you have 10-11 inches knitted.  I quit about 10 inches.  That's it!!  You can knit them longer if you wish, but this is not intended to be used as a hooded cowl.

Because you use a circular needle there is no sewing up at the end.  Once you cast off the cowl is ready to wear or donate or gift.

For the men's cowls

Cast 76 stitches on to an 8MM circular needle and K2, P2 for 11 inches.  That's it.  Once you reach the 11 inches cast off.  You are done.
I like the K2, P2 because it gives you the ability to stretch these cowls to fit around your neck and they look the same outside and inside.
NOTE:  If you wish to knit this with more stitches you have to increase the amount by 4 stitches.  If you want more then it would be 80 or 84 or 88.  As these stretch a lot I'm not sure I would increase to 88 but it's up to you.
I can knit these up in about an evening and a half.  It depends on how many supper dishes I have to wash up.
