I have been a baseball fan since I was just a little girl. I was raised in Montreal and the Brooklyn Dodgers farm team was the Montreal Royals, so everyone cheered for the Dodgers. I still do, I always will.
This book called "The Grip" is about a young man by the name of Marcus Stroman when he was young. A lad that had a good arm and was destined for a baseball career. A career that led him first to Toronto, to pitch for the Blue Jays way back in 2014. Now he is signed with the Chicago Cubs.
The book takes you on a small journey through a short period in Marcus' life when he was trying to make it through an assessment for future teams.
It's a good read and perfect for children that think they want a major league career, whether it be baseball or another sport. A book that tells it like it is. The doubts you have, the work ethic you gain, your family's support.
I recommend it. Whether you buy it for your daughter or son or donate it to a school or just read it for yourself, it's a good read. We all have those times that we doubt ourselves. The book is available at Indigo here in Canada. .jpg)
A great discussion could be had by students and teachers on whether parents push their children into sports, whether they support them, whether they do all they can for them. Is this the child's dream or the parents' dream?
