Black History Month

 I honestly don't know how I found out about this.  But it is history and it took some research and I love both of those things.  I can spend hours researching for things I want to learn about.

This book is from North Preston, Nova Scotia.  The oldest settlement in Canada for black people and I do mean old.  Back in the 1790's -- long before my ancestors started to arrive here.  The first arrivals were joined by Loyalists during the war of 1812 and today they are thriving.

The students of Nelson Whynder Elementary School wrote the ABC's of their community, they drew the pictures and they made a book.  And I bought one.  

I wanted to learn more and I did!!

Do you know who Lindell Wiggington is?  OR here's another -- Daneesha Provo?  No -- you don't??? Well, you are just going to have to Google those names, aren't you?  Cause I'm not going to tell you.

and I highly recommend you do and put it on your children's bookshelf.  Doesn't matter if you have children, you can still have a bookshelf dedicated to books for them.  Better yet, donate it to a school for their celebration of Black History Month!!

Watch out, I have another book review coming cause my quilting is taking me sometime these days.  I keep floating from one project to another!!
