which means for me, days on the deck, reading, reading and more reading. Three books you may like, or maybe just one. I loved them all for different reasons.
The first book was recommended by a morning talk show. They interviewed the author -- a Scot -- who became unemployed when the pandemic hit and all sporting events ground to a halt. I have to admit I bought the book because of it's cover. We had Labrador Retrievers and I absolutely, strongly believe they are the very best breed of dog ever!! I am not prejudiced. If I was ever to get another dog, it would be another black beauty and that would be her name. It is a light hearted book about their adventures. It wasn't a book I couldn't put down, but it was book I loved while I sat in the evenings while Karl watched his tv shows. **** out of 5
Then I heard about this one.
I thought it would be about quilting, but not so much. It's a story within a story. A story of the past and of the present, a story about heritage, a story about hardship by those that faced adversity and took it in stride. I liked it so much I have ordered the sequel and it will be read in due course. ***** out of 5
While I wait for the next book, I bought this one.
I loved it!!
It was written by a Swede, which makes it Scandinavian and we know a chap with the name of the gentleman in the book. Three great reasons to buy a book. We won't even mention it was #1 in the Scandinavian countries.
A book about a man that you will love and adore. He has good core values that he firmly believes in. He is wonderful once you get past his gruffiness which hides his kindness which is buried inside him.
He has a wonderful young neighbour who loves him for all the ways that are imbedded in him.
I laughed, I cried, I shook my head while I read it and I read parts of it out loud to Karl.
A thoroughly enjoyable book that was very hard to put down so I could get a good night's sleep.
I highly recommend all three
All three are as different as night and day.

All three offer variety for lovely summer afternoon reading on your deck, your balcony or your patio.
Enjoy!!
I purchase all my books through
I have been doing curbside and hopefully soon, I will be able to walk into the best store in the world and wander around and select the rest of my summer reading material.
I love book stores.
I love them more than fabric stores and that is saying a lot.
