1999

I took a class from Lydia Quigley of the Rabbit Factory on how to do machine applique.  I made two blocks that way and then went back to handwork because it gave me something to do.  This was the original pattern.  One problem...........
I didn't have a bed to put it on.  I was also pretty much done with applique after the 12 blocks.  Then I started to use the white fabric up on other projects because I knew this particular pattern was not going to be done.
This past winter I started to think about the blocks.  Something had to be done with them.  Too much work was invested in them.  I found the perfect border/backing fabric at Lindley and way back in March I ordered it.  It is called "Willowberry" by Northcott
Last week on one really rotten hot day I loaded it on the frame.
Loaded the pantograph which I call "Butterflies" and I can't find it anywhere on the internet so no idea where it came from.
I used a non variegated thread from Kawartha Quilting (link at the bottom of the page), OMNI Ash which has 6,000 yards on the cone.  I filled 4 bobbins and used 3 1/2.  It took 17 minutes to stitch out one row.  It is dense!  I wanted it dense.
It's now done.  I sat and bound one side each night for 4 nights with the quilt sitting on a deck chair so it wouldn't be covering me.  To say it has been hot is the understatement of the year.
It is put away until the fall.  No one needs a heavy quilt on their bed right now.
