#Share quilts not germs

The St. Louis Modern Quilt Guild posted on Instagram that message and asked us to post quilts.  Quilt shows are being cancelled as are so many other things.  This was our way to bring a bit of joy into lives that are turned upside down.
These were my quilts because they all tell a story...........every quilts tell a story.  So many memories tied up in this quilt.
This quilt from Pine Needles was made in honour of Karl’s Mom and Dad, farmers in Denmark. The yellow dress on the line? I made one that colour for his Mom. The horse's name is Klaus, the cat was Fisty, the sheep grazed the fields, the pigs were bedded in the cleanest straw I ever saw. The chickens his Mom looked after, they lived in a white house but I goofed the roof. Treasured memories of a family that struggled through the Second World War.
I posted this one in the middle of the afternoon.
When Karl’s dad passed away, Mor couldn’t live on the farm. The nights were dark and it was lonely. She moved to a home in the nearest village. Karl’s wonderful cousin lived across from her and watched for the lights going on and off. There was a wall that needed a quilt so I made one and sent it to her. It is called Swallow’s Nest because it says so on the back.....in Danish.
In the evening I posted this one.  It was a pattern given out freely by Angie's Bits and Pieces.  It hangs on our living room wall.  More memories of a special little girl that lived with us for 5 years.  She wasn't going to have a long life because she had a lot of internal problems, so we gave her a great life.  I think about her often.  She was my girl, like Buddy is my boy........as much as he will let me be his "human".
