It's new for me

I had a request from our local hospital for "isolette liners" for inside the units.  I have never done these before but the ladies suggested "pillowcase size".
My pillowcases measure 20" wide by 30" long.  I dug out my flannelette and was shocked at how much I had.  Yup, this is it......after washing every piece of it.

I decided to take one long piece and put it on the long arm and then lay the batting and this time two smaller pieces.  I wanted to just give it a go and see how it went.  I cut the top piece 40" wide because then I could sub-cut it 20" and I would get two out of the piece.  I had given this a lot of thought before I started.  I changed my mind a few times on how I could accomplish this without too much waste.
I used a simple meandering pantograph and Fairy Floss thread.  It is a variegated thread with pink, blue and yellow.  It worked well.
When I was all stitched out, I took the piece off and cut 4 individual pieces.  2 were cut 20" x 24" because that was all I had in length and the other 2 were cut 20" x 30".  I took scraps of binding for each one.
The sun was shining but I went out and hung a line under the tree and snapped some photos.  Here you go.  I did magnify one binding so you can see where I did the break.
There are more to be made.  I want that basket empty and a better use of that fabric, I cannot think of.
Tomorrow is Camp Day at all Tim Horton's locations across Canada and the United States.  100% of the coffee sales will go to provide a camping experience for a child perhaps in your neighbourhood.  It will be a life changing time for most of these children.  It's an even that Karl and I have never missed.  We add a sandwich and put our change in the camp foundation box at the counter.
Let's all help to make a difference in a child's life.  They are our future.
