The photos more or less explain the process. I pin my backings because I have never invested in all the other ways you could do it. I don't run a business so this isn't mass production on my part.
I cut the width of my backing so I can clamp them together. Hmmm, I didn't take a photo of that!!
Yes, Pooh is still my little celebrity! I didn't have his brain the day I quilted this one out.I put two spools on my machine. The one on the right winds a bobbin as I stitch out the pantograph
and this was the choice. This one was altered. All the flowers were cut out and it just has bees.
Once all that and a wee bit more is done, off I go. It's just a matter of watching or putting on your quilting shoes, or wandering away to look at something else.
I "rest" my quilt after I've stitched it. I cut my binding strips and sew them together and then press them. I don't like leaving a quilt without the binding attached after I have trimmed it.
This is the hallway upstairs that holds a lot of quilts during the winter. It has fabulous lighting, thanks to Peter and his installation of a beautiful fixture I bought a few days after we moved in.
Nope, Karl didn't know a thing. He sat on his tush in the hospital while we did all the work, so this was our rewards. (If only the poor beggar was only sitting on his tush)
Of course, if it isn't one cat inspecting, it's the other. This was Buddy's turn
And these are the new labels. I don't think I'll get the next load with the tiny bee. You have to be very careful when you sew it on, or he gets lost in the binding.
This is the thread I used for this quilt. It is one of my favourites. If you are ordering from Anita (or dropping in to see her), the number for this one has changed. It is now OMNI-V 9077 and it is called Malibu. It is a fabulous colour and blends in so well and doesn't distract from the quilt at all.
I absolutely love all the OMNI-V threads. There is so little lint in your machine when you are finished stitching out.
There you have it!! Now you more or less know what your long arm quilter does once she has your quilt.
She is worth every penny you pay her.
