For West Plains United Church I decided to make scarves. It won't be working out the way I planned. I thought a ball of yarn would make a scarf long enough, but no, it won't. It ended up being a length for a child.
I'm using Paton's Canadiana
-- a long time favourite purchased from Mary Maxim in Paris..........no not that one, the one in Ontario.
I used 6MM needles to give it a lacey look. The pattern is called Harris Tweed, a favourite of mine and the pattern can be found here on the blog for Impeccable Knits. It took me 3 evenings to knit this scarf up and I used the whole ball of yarn. The colourway is Aran
This scarf is called Irish Hiking Scarf and I knitted this with less stitches than called for which left off one cable. I like doing cables, but I wanted the length and if I had used the stitches called for I would have been a bit short. The colour is Navy. The link is hereI purchased 5 balls of this yarn so there are more to come. I knit every evening starting with the 6 o'clock news so I don't have to hear what they are reporting.
I stop about 8 when good -- if you want to call it that -- shows come on.
I go about 3 hours off and on and keep my mind occupied and my fingers moving.
