Rainy days and Mondays

may get you down, but rainy days and Thursday and I'm in the sewing room.

This quilt is built around left-overs.  What I had and what I ended up purchasing to finish it off.  It will measure out to about 36" wide and about 48" long and it will be set aside for a new baby someday.

I made up seven four patch and used up the cream line of fabric.  They are all cut 3.5" x 3.5"
The other seven blocks were cut 3.5" x 6.5" and ended up looking like this:
I alternated the rows and had them sewn together after a long time.  There was some reverse stitching along the way!!  That's all I'm saying.
I had the first border in my stash so I added it.
In my opinion there are no rules in quilting!  You can add the borders anyway you want.  You can do horizontal, then vertical, then horizontal.  You can add corner blocks or not.  It's all up to you.  The only thing I do like to remember is the outer border should be long horizontal so that the top and bottom borders and full lengths across.  The top and bottom get the most pull on a quilt so secure those sides.
And the top is done.  I have the pantograph all picked out.  Forest animals wander so I'm doing a wandering pantograph.
When I constructed this little quilt I made the 4 patches with the prints going in both directions.
Yes, I made a few mistakes but that's how you learn - right?

I added the borders -- forgot to snap some photos -- and then took a piece of the green fabric down the road to my quilt shop and bought a binding that I hadn't planned on.
And this is where I'm leaving it for today.

I'll finish it up on Wordless Wednesday!!
