however after experimenting, I discovered that Pellon Fusible Fleece is the way to go. It is a bit more pliable when turning the bucket after you have sewn it together. I tried three different ways and this is my favourite.
Bucket one: This one was going to be a gift and then I decided against it. It is fairly large so you could put a lot in it, but as this was the end of my truck fabric, I had to keep it.
I emptied my glass jar of my pine cones from our old house and loaded it up. I decided to keep it on the tv stand so we get to see it every night. This one was a gift to a neighbour. She is one of my delivery elfs. We give gift boxes to two families at her school. I make them up and she chooses the children. I suggested she take this to the school and people could help themselves to the candy canes. I'm sorry I don't remember the size of this one, but you know if you had a layer cake 10 inch squares would certainly work.
This size I do know. Mainly because I messed up the first one and it was so small! This was cut
8 1/2 x 8 1/2 inchs and sewn with 1/4 inch seam allowance. This is the perfect size for gift giving. Cut your corners 2 x 2 inches and trust me, you want to use scissors to do the cutting. I used my ruler and marked the lines and then pinned all the layers together. Then I cut!! I tried the rotary cutter and messed up because I went past the corner. It was a rather loud "grrrr" moment!!
We know this family pretty well, so they got kisses in their bucket! This is a winter theme fabric so it can sit out long past Christmas.
Mom is a school teacher and she chose the family at her school, so as she is another delivery elf, She gets a bucket.
