#APQRetreat

On International Quilting Day last month, All People Quilt (APQ) had a virtual quilting retreat.  It was fun.  They posed the questions, we gave the answers.
1.  Introduce yourself  and where are you from.
Most of you know me, and to clarify I live in a village.  The village is Aldershot which is part of the city of Burlington, Ontario.
2.  What are you working on today?
3.  Post a pic of your sewing machine.  I have a few but I chose this one because I do use it almost daily

4.  What is your favourite snack or drink while you work?
I love Wether's Original candy, the chewy ones and I usually have a cup of coffee somewhere in the room -- never where I'm working -- and a bottle of water.  So far......no accidents.
5.  Who taught you to sew?
My girlfriend's mom.  Her name was Mrs. Gladwish and they lived almost at the top of our street in Lachine, Quebec.  I made an apron.  Oh to have that in my hands today.
6.  Post a pic of your sewing space.
As soon as Karl saw this room, he said this is yours.  I am spread out so I get lots of walking in while I run from the cutting table, to the sewing machine, to the iron.
7.  Do you have a favourite quilt finish?  (I didn't quite grasp that, but they did clarify) What's a favourite quilt you've made.
You have seen it before, but they hadn't.

8.  What's your favourite quilt shop?
I shop online because I just enjoy it.  This is my go-to
Lindley General Store in Meaford, Ontario.  It is online only but they have everything I need and want and it is on my front porch within 2 days of ordering.
9.  What sewing notion could you never live without?
I learned to quilt from Rosemary Makhan -- a wonderful lady that knew her stuff.  Rotary cutters were just coming into their own in the quilting world and I desperately wanted to learn how to use it.  No sirreee!   We learned with scissors.  My favourite notion to this day is my rotary cutter.  I have a collection.  My old non-retractable gets the "old" blade and it is used exclusively for paper.  My "new" one is for fabric only.
10.  Show a pic of what you accomplished today.
If I start a quilt, I finish a quilt right down to the binding.  Then I move on.  I happened to be sitting doing the binding on the quilt that had been long armed earlier in the day.
That was my quilt retreat for the day.  I enjoyed it.
Our quilt shops are closed.  I know some are offering curb side pickup, but there are alternatives.
I have been shopping online.

My two very favourite stores are listed at the bottom of the page.
One is for fabric,
the other is thread and the best sewing machine needles!
Don't forget, that is the most inexpensive thing you can buy for your machine
and it is one of the most important,
next to cleaning it out.
If you need batting and want to order big rolls
you could try Kawartha Quilting and Sewing.  Large rolls only.
The place I buy from is sold out and I was checking on Saturday.
