O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree

Here we go.  Download whichever tree you want to do on your pillow.  Buy whatever fabrics you want for the background.  A deep blue would work and a gorgeous green.  I chose red because it pops off our furniture.
The first thing I did was iron lightweight fusible interfacing to the back of the white flannel.  I didn't want the red showing through.  Then the fusible web and trace the tree onto that.  You can make a template because that does make it easier.  Cut it out, fuse it right in the middle, perhaps a bit more to the top than the bottom
I spray glued the three pieces together for the front
I made sure the needle was in the down position

 Shortened my stitch length
Lowered the speed as low as I could
 I used the walking foot
and the extension table so it would lay flat while I stitched it
I sewed it as close to the edge as I could
Before I went too far, I pulled the top thread to the back and when I was finished I did two stitches over where I started and then pulled that thread through.  I did a reef knot because it is the best.
I used So Fine thread 50/3 so it is almost impossible to see
Then I made the back.  I didn't have any zippers in stock so I made an envelope back.  To buy a zipper I have to travel a few kms and I just didn't feel like it.   The front is about 12 x 16, so I cut the two backs 10 x 16.  I folded one side over 1/2" and then 1/2" again on both pieces.  You only need to do one side.  I chose a fancy stitch but you don't have to.
For some reason I forgot to take photos, so......
When you place the back to the front, ride sides together, the first piece you place will be the one visible when you turn it right side out.
I never do straight stitching on the corners of my pillows.  I curve them.  Easily done.  Take a marker and something round, mark it and then when you are stitching have the outer part of the foot follow the mark.
Lay the pillow form on top of the inside of the front.  Pull one side over and make sure the pillow is pushed into the corners.
Then pull over the other side.
Enjoy!!
You can do anything you want on these pillows with any colours you want.   I'm considering a lovely spring pillow for the chair and just using these forms so I don't have to store them.  Maybe I could just do a daisy and that would make it through a long part of the year.  White daisy.  Yeah, now I'm thinking.
