We heard the microwave "bing" around 4:00 am, so Karl got up, got dressed and started making pots of coffee. He grabbed two thermoses and filled them, plus the coffee pot. I got up at 6:30 and the power was gone.
We phoned family to see if they had power and they did. It seemed to affect everyone south of the highway more than the north ends of town, but having said that, power was off and on in those areas too.
I went out and sanded the steps and the front walkway once the freezing rain had stopped. Everything was beautiful and the temperatures weren't too bad. I had my camera with me and snapped some photos outside.
We went to bed early and at 11:30 the power was back on. Our daughter said she learned from the tv that it would be back by midnight and it was. Extra special thanks to our Hydro crews for all the work they did during the storm. The linemen deserve an extra helping of Christmas dinner.
The beauty of nature.
