It's all about family

This is our one and only
daughter....................pictured here when she was in kindergarten and running a "dress-up" race at a field day.
She hasn't changed much over the years.  She grew slightly taller but the looks remained.
Here she is on Christmas Eve with her Dad.
Normally I don't bother much with what we get for Christmas because -- to be honest -- it's usually a big bunch of gift cards.
But this year was different.
Kristina phoned one day and asked if we needed new slippers.  She has been giving them to us for the past 3 years and I can't wear them out.  Karl and I both said no, we didn't.
That left her in a quandary.
We decided this year to exchange our gifts on Christmas Eve.
Our son started the exchanging and then it was Kristina's turn.
She handed us an envelope that read
"The most important gift to a parent at Christmas is to be with their children.
In your honour we hope we granted that wish this Christmas to a deserving family."
Merry Christmas from
and then their names.
We opened up the envelope and inside was a card
Then we opened the card.
Karl and I sat in disbelief.
Then I understood the words on the envelope.
I think about this gift every once in awhile and think to myself, what a fabulous gift they gave to us.
Another family will be together at Christmas
just like it should be.
I'm going to post one more blog for this month and then that will be it until February.  Tuesday is all about unexpected beauty.  That's all I'm saying.

I've decided I'm taking the last week of every month off to do "me things".  What they are, I have no idea.
