I walked into the local shop one day and saw these sitting on the counter. It was meant to be as there were only a very few left.
My original intention was to make 3 separate quilts and then circumstances changed. Babies in Ontario didn't need these quilts.
But a little boy in Fort McMurray could use it as a quilt on his "big bed".
I didn't have to do a lot of straightening on these panels which is unusual. A very gentle tug and they were good to trim.
There is a fourth panel to this set but the store had sold out. That's fine, this is plenty long enough and with a bit of playing around on EQ, I had a layout!
I decided one Thursday morning I was putting a "do not disturb" sign on the sewing room door and putting this together.
I joined the three panels in record time and they were spot on when I was done. I was so pleased with myself and the designer and the manufacturer who is
Northcott, by the way.
I did change my mind on the borders. After I had the first three rounds done, I decided to sew a very narrow green border at the top and bottom. If the grey fabric had been from the same fabric as the green shown below I would have gone for it, but as it had a distinctive pattern and I knew it wouldn't match, I gave it just a bit of a break between the two pieces. I'm glad I did.
The top and bottom green final borders were cut 1" to finish at 1/2". Just enough to separate the two grey pieces.

Of course, the wind was blowing and one peg decided to play silly beggars so Karl pulled the line in, fixed it and sent it back out. I finally gave up and went with the photos I had taken.
