The living-room window

is a pain in the neck to make a runner for.  It has two windows on an angle on each end that open and unless you make the runner with angles on the ends it is one big rectangle with empty areas.
It's a little cold on the hands and feet and elsewhere when the winds are howling in the middle of winter.
Sooooooo
I cut out two extra cats and then did some fancy thinking.  I wanted the cats to face each other, but my thinker must have been on holidays because that didn't work out.
I had a paper pattern, (which cannot be photographed as it was turned into a large ball for the cats to play with) and once the top, batting and backing were sandwiched and quilted, I used the pattern to cut the proper angles.

These should be pretty comfy to sit on during the long fall and winter days.  There is wool batting in between and flannel on the back.

All of the cats sit in the window.  The birds hide in the bushes during snowstorms and the feeder brings them by every day.
It is quilted, it is bound and it is being used!

There is flannel on the back

Karl has a box with bird food in it below this window.  Last winter, we had bunnies and birds using it.  The snow doesn't get in the box and it is protected from the harsh elements.
It is also entertaining for the cats.  I do believe a red squirrel was helping himself to goodies this particular day or maybe it was a chipmunk!  We may live in Town, but we do have wildlife!
