When you do your spring cleaning

in February, it gives you time to replace some of the things that should have been replaced last year and even the year before.
When our kids were small, we bought each of them hanging lights for over their beds.  We more than encouraged bedtime reading and providing a good light was necessary.  Kristina's light is still in the house
and this year, it was getting recovered.
I found a gorgeous batik in my stash that would work well in the computer room
blues, greys, yellows and creams
It took me a couple of hours to cut, sew, put that elastic in and then make the tie
A brand new light for the room.
It hangs over the computer and the amount of light it gives off is all I need
for evening work.
While I was working away on this, I found Misty in her favourite spot.
The living-room window.
The birds were fueling up, getting ready for a snowstorm that was headed our way.
Karl made a feeder for the squirrels, but the birds seem to love it too.  It's under the bushes at the front of the house, so they can eat while in shelter.
This is a junco.  One of the winter birds that visit our house every year.  A beautiful little thing that has a dark grey back and a white chest.  They'll leave us in the spring and head north and then return again very late in the fall.
