A brand new year

I cleaned off the top of my desk today.  I'm going to spend 15 minutes or more a day cleansing something....purging.....getting rid of "stuff".

I have a file thing that I thought I would put quilting patterns into......those that I had run off and did intend to keep......a few hit the recycle bin......I won't live long enough to make all of them.
I decided to check out what was inside.  Boy, I sure keep everything.  In 2011 Slave Lake, Alberta had a massive fire that destroyed homes and people lost everything.  The guild I was associated with at the time donated and they donated big time.  Lynn Calvert was the driving force behind it.  We culled quilts from our rooms and we sent them west.
One of the major airlines in Canada put a skid together and Lynn flew out with them.  Her friend met her at the airport and they drove to Slave Lake with our donations.
Young and old alike gave.

Patti Ann's granddaughters made quilts for children.
I have seen generosity before, but never like this.
A small group of us actually met with Donna Melvin in a coffee shop here in Oakville, when she was down to visit her sister.
When she wrote to say she was coming I rounded up Patti Ann, her grands and the president of the guild to meet her for coffee.  It was a great time.
Part two of this story was I have a great new friend because of this.
Her name is Linda and she runs the quilt shop in Slave Lake that collected all the quilts.  Someday we are going to meet, but in the meantime we "friend" on Facebook and chat occasionally on the phone.
Random acts of kindness
because
Sometimes a small thing you do
can mean everything in another person's life.
