Peggy and Paddy...

are all done for this month.  I had fun with this block, adding my own touches to it.  When I first glanced at the pattern I couldn't figure out what to do with that yellow rectangle that Peggy is holding high.  I thought about it for awhile and then came up with this.

I went on the internet and found this great font that was wide enough to do something with.  Using "Word", I put the text into a box so it would come out the right size.  I have to tell you that working with something this small,  was a pain in the neck but it was all worth it in the end.  You could try Merry Christmas, or some such thing on your quilt if you don't know who you are giving it to.
My own touch #2 is a bit of trapunto work.  It is easy to do even with fusible web.  I cut out two pieces of 100% cotton batting slightly smaller than the bow centre.  I did use two as I said to give it some "oomph".   If your batting is thicker, you could get away with just one.
I pressed the batting to the back of the circle and then pinned it on the bow.  When everything was fused in place, this was the first thing I sewed down.  I did both centers on the bows.
If you hold the piece on an angle you can see it is raised up and if you run your finger over it, you can feel it.  Just a little something extra.

All done, ready for the storage box.
I have to admit, I do like this block and now everyone knows who it is being made for.  Mommy, Daddy and Julia will love this added touch.

My scissors are here.  I picked them up last Thursday and none too soon.  I have a big project coming up and I'll put them to a lot of use.
No, I'm not telling you what it is.....you'll have to wait.

I have a tip for you today.  For those of you that use Superior Threads, they have an app you can download for your iPad.  Maybe for your iPhone too.  I don't know cause I don't have one of those.
It is a place where you can keep an inventory of all of your threads.  I sat one afternoon and entered all the threads I have in stock.  Now when I see Anita I won't be doing "repeat" buying.
Now seeing as I did one for Superior, I thought why not.......
so I did one for my Sulky Threads.  I do keep them all together, but it's nice to know what you have when you are shopping.  I do have two repeats in my case.  I will take the time one rainy day to put them in numerical order.  Now if I can just remember to take my iPad with me when I go to the store.
